Lesson 5: STATE-OF-THE-ART ET APPLICATION PRACTICES
Technology
gets life easier. Some says, technology is time consuming and money spending.
Everyone spends time and money everyday for living. This means we can spend
everything we have for what we like. Technology is never time consuming, it
does not get much of your time. With just a little stretch, they can give you
want you want and even help you out with your concern about research and any
educational issues. It is not expensive. You can buy your own laptop if you
want. You can loan or there are a lot of means but I tell you, it is not
expensive because you can afford it. Now, you can search online through “pesonet.”Peso
net is a type of a computer café where in you can use the computer using a
coin. All you have to do is to insert that coin to the open vertical hole near
the keyboard. One coin is equal to six minute usage of the computer. If we can
spend a lot for our food, we can also spend more than one peso for using
computers. Using of media is much entertaining and I salute the teachers who
use this upon teaching. Learning is fun but when media is used just for fun
alone and it has nothing to do with programmes, it is zilch. For now, teachers
in the Philippines are still mastering computer applications. It is still
difficult to assess because we are not yet used to it. It is a new learning
that all of us have to master. Our incoming learners will be able to get the
technology easily because they are already growing with a technologized society
and do not have any choice unlike the learners of today that they have known a
different way and technology is new part of our courses; technology in the
Philippines is still a little thing that must be spread out especially in urban
places because there is no way for us to look back to the traditional way of
education. Everyone in the world is agreeing to the new way of learning. Future
learners will easily accept everything including technology and they do not
have to worry because I supposed that on that time, a lot of the oldies are
willing to assist them because they know the basics of technology.
Lesson 4: BASIC CONCEPTS ON INTEGRATING TECHNOLOGY IN INSTRUCTION
Internet
and computer cafes are one of the many businesses in the Philippines. Most of
these cafes are located near to schools or offices. I have once used a computer
in a café near our school and I have noticed that most of the users are
students. They seemed to be very happy and undeniably noisy all because of a
certain game called “DOTA” or Defense of the Ancient. I assumed these students
skipped classes just to play that game. There are a lot of factors that made
these people decide not to attend classes on that day. It might be because that
was the only day they could spend time with peers or that was the day of battle
for each team of which they call “tournament.” See how technology changes man’s
life and views in life.
I have heard the news about the plan of
Department of Education and I am happy with. It is all about supplying
computers to learners. Basically, it is one computer for one school. I know it
is not enough but if this is the only thing they could offer, I hope some other
countries might be willing to help us. It is not that I do not like the plan of
the government. I loved it. At least, they have thought of it and this will
surely help the students to have a little background of what computer is though
not that great knowledge of course. Since, technology is getting higher;
everyone is required to know the basics because from there we will get to learn
the hard ones. With this peasant country that we have it is a must for the
learners to learn and to be oriented about the lavish technology in schools
because we cannot be left behind. We have to align ourselves with others and we
have to get to the point where in we can use technology independently because
time will come that no one’s going to help us with the basics of any technology
that we have. People have to be challenged to apply what they have learned
about computers. They need to be well educated about it and they have to
explore that computer for them to be able to check themselves if they have
understood the lesson. If you have knowledge, apply it. Never keep your idea on
things because you will forget it.
Lesson 3: EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY IN THE ASIA PACIFIC REGION
Progressive
countries in Asia Pacific Region have made their own strategies to adopt
technology in education. These countries
can be considered as “high-tech” countries. In the Philippines especially in
the school setting, strategies are not that effective because the older ones
who are in our higher offices do not even know how to manipulate a simple
computer application. I remember few years ago, old licensed teachers were
forced to learn basic computer uses. Imagine, that was just few years ago when
this was implemented. For now, I can really say that since our teachers and the
Department of Education are still working things out, our strategy to embrace
technology and align with education is not yet that effective. I know, the
soonest, everyone will be as good as the old learners of Computers. A part of
the tactic of Department of Education to make students learn more about
technology is to fund computers to public schools at a ratio of 1 is to 1. This
means 1 computer for 1 school. I know this helps even a little but are we that
blind? There are so many students in a public school. I have studied in a
government school in my high school years and I can tell you that in one class
we were like 50 to 60. So, let us say schools will be given computers. What would
they do? There are thousands of students who aimed to use that one and only
computer. It is not enough. What we can do is to supply computers and this time
it will be one computer for one student. This will be a very great help. They
will learn how to operate the computer and most especially they will be able to
easily digest what they have discussed. One of the best examples that
Philippines is getting into a higher technology and Filipinos are agreeing to
the new inclination of machinery is our way of using cellular phones.
Philippines has been the #1 texting capital in Asia for the past few years. Our
texting cultures have influenced us in so many ways as well as receiving
information knowledge. Texting is good in a way that we do not have to go and
do an extra mile just to relate a story or to transfer any facts to the other
person. It is not good in a way that people tend to use short terms which they
call “text typed words” and “jejemon” until such time that they get used to it
and forget the correct spelling of the word. You see, technology is not bad at
all it is the usage of the people that makes it unprincipled.
Lesson 2: AN OVERVIEW: EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 2
The world
is embracing the technology and as long as we live the more the world gets technological. At present, it is such a shame for a student not to know the
basics of the computer because everyone is using it. Students have to know the
different computer applications since this is a requirement in school and no
longer a choice. Upon taking computer courses, this will help the learners in
adapting the modern world as well as preparing themselves for the future higher
technology. Browsing the internet, surfing the web and joining social media are
the new trends of this generation. Websites usually deal with commercial
advertisement, educational sites, entertainment news and social engagement. I
believe there are websites for educational purposes but the thing is only a few
are making websites as such. We can search for our homework and what it maybe
that relates to education but only a few websites are catering our educational
needs. You may have seen a lot of search results of your concern relating to
your homework but if you try to open it one by one most of them are the same
which means they can be found in one website. I have been experiencing this lot
of times. I can see that everyone even our grandparents are willing to learn
and want to be dependent in using computers and any gadgets, so with this I
assume that the young ones seem to love learning new things than them. There
are many people who are using educational websites for their research, term papers
and assignments. These people are usually students and professionals. So,
instead of going in the library every day and scan big, dusty books, why not
try searching online and open eLib or log on to any educational websites that
you know. This is how technology makes things easier and
faster.

Lesson 1 : A REVIEW OF EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY 1
Each of the countries has formed
different kinds of ways on how to help students make learning a lot easier. Things have changed so rapidly that we never
noticed how much change was done unless we try to look back and ask our
ancestors, moms and dads. In other countries like Unites States of America and
Japan, they have a fast paced kind of living and this is all because they have
higher technology. Teachers in these places have also made educating students
more flexible because of technology. In the Philippines, students and teachers
use computers, laptops, eBooks, and tablets to assist them in their studies but
before, we never knew these things. Upon living in the modern world, people
nowadays do not have to go to the library just to do research and look for
books because we can use the so called internet and log on to the website and
use eLibrary. This is how Filipinos use technology in education in this era. I
believe there are still places in Asia specifically in the Philippines which lack
the resources and are not yet part of the new trend of using gadgets. They can
still use the traditional media such as radio, newspapers or magazines in
helping the students learn effectively. There are internet cafes in most
corners of the street of urban areas and students usually go there to play
games with friends or do some assignments. Our learners can best use computer
resources by the guidance of the parents and being well educated by the
teachers on how to use them in a very useful and educational way.
