Lesson 13: COOPERATIVE LEARNING WITH THE COMPUTER
We meet
new friends in school and most of them are our classmates. Some teacher would
ask the students to group themselves by four or five for a project. When I was
in class and the teacher would like us to group ourselves, I would ask the
teacher if it would be possible to group with your close friends. I would be
very glad if the teacher would because I would be comfortable. Just like anyone
else, you will never get along to somebody when you do not know them that much.
You have to befriend with them first. The good thing of grouping yourself with your
not so close friends is that you are giving yourself a chance to mingle with
others and you are opening yourself to strangers who might be your future close
friends. So, whenever an educator groups his students and gives a project, he
knows what possible things that will come up are. When the computer is involved
in a project, students prefer to do it by group because they can discuss the
new learning as well as interact with their classmates. This chance is very
important to them since they will be able to practice their interdependence and
social skills. Computer is a big part of this stage because it is a way of
keeping the students in cooperating and interrelating their ideas about
computer applications and the best things to do to be able to present the best
project they could have.
